What Happens on Sunday?
A Typical Sunday Worship Service
Every Sunday at 10:00 am (summer service time) , we gather for worship, with a spiritually-deepening sermon, inspiring music, thought-provoking readings, and a grounding time of prayer and meditation. Unitarian Universalists find meaning in many sources for wisdom and spirituality, so our worship draws from many traditions. Services typically finish by 10:45am, and are followed by a social hour with refreshments and opportunities for connection. Visitors are encouraged to explore our “Information for Newcomers” table to learn more about Winchester Unitarian Society and all it has to offer! Dress ranges from casual to Sunday best.
Worship for Families
Please note that during the summer, services are generally smaller and all of the programming for children will be on hiatus until the fall. Please note that summer services start at 10 am. All are welcome.
From September through June, we offer engaging and inclusive programs for preschool through high school, as well as childcare for infants and toddlers.
- All Ages Worship At 10:30 am, the children begin by worshipping in the sanctuary with their families. After a hymn and “A Time for All Ages,” children then travel to their classes in our religious education wing.
- Religious Education Classes for children in preschool through 6th grade run until 11:45 a.m. every Sunday. More information can be found here.
- Youth Group We offer two youth groups: JUSYG for 7th-8th graders and WUSYG for high schoolers. Both programs meet in the afternoon or evening every Sunday.
Everyone is Welcome
Our congregation is an open and loving community devoted to matters of the spirit, matters of justice, and matters of the earth. Here we seek truth, celebrate mystery, and honor human dignity across all boundaries. As a “Welcoming Congregation,” we affirm the full inclusion of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. And we seek to welcome you. Whether you live in Winchester or in one of its surrounding communities; whether you’re familiar with Unitarian Universalism or you’ve just begun your explorations; whether you come from another faith tradition or whether you come from no faith tradition at all, you can find a home here.
