“The Winchester Unitarian Society Standing Committee believes that our Unitarian Universalist values call us to support the creation of affordable housing in all of our communities, and specifically affirms the messages of support from the Winchester InterFaith Council letter and from SAOC to support the affordable housing project to be voted upon by Winchester residents on June 22, 2021.”
Winchester residents have an important opportunity to express our values through the June 22 vote. A challenge has been raised to the Town’s plan to arrange for more affordable housing.  The Housing Partnership Board recently explained, “Development of the Waterfield property specifically for mixed income housing has been publicly discussed for more than 3 years and has been approved by a number of Town Boards. The mix of incomes and rental levels in the building will offer people with a range of incomes and abilities a place to call home and will help make our Town a more inclusive community.”   To learn more, see this website:  https://www.waterfieldfacts.com/    Additionally, a public Q & A was held reviewing the history and the project plans.  The Waterfield information session recording can be viewed at https://wincam.org/programs/ondemand/.
In the last, week two more significant community groups have come out in strong support of the Waterfield Street housing project in their own ways:
Your Social Action and Outreach Committee unanimously affirms the intent of both of these statements and are encouraging all Winchester voters to vote YES on question #1 on June 22, 2021.  Residents of all 8 precincts will vote at Winchester High School from 7:00AM to 8:00 PM.  Applications for absentee ballots are currently available here.
