Some grew up with advent calendars, boards with small doors you can open once a day to help mark the approach to Christmas. Many of these calendars come with a small piece of chocolate in each cavity. They teach us patience and savoring the sweetness of experience. Yet some also have the experience of eating all the chocolate at once as they just can’t wait! This service will be an extended meditation and celebration of the season that has begun, essentially a musical and poetic feast reflecting on Advent, Haunukkah, Solstice, Christmas and the New Year. It will be like eating all the chocolate in one service. Yet, attendance will bring neither calories nor cavities…It’s time to sing some carols!
