As part of WUS’s ongoing commitment to racial justice, we will take part in a spiritual and educational program on October 28th.
At 2 pm we will walk, bike or wheel from the Winchester Unitarian Society (478 Main St, Winchester) to the Royall House and Slave Quarters in Medford (15 George Street). This is not a protest but an embodied lesson and reminder that we live – and worship – in walking distance (3.4 miles) to where African Americans were once enslaved. The journey will take about 1.5 hours. Those who will not be walking may meet the group at the Royall House and Slave Quarters. At 4 pm, there will be a one-hour tour of the museum, after which we will discuss our experiences as a group.
Due to the generosity of the Royall House and Slave Quarters and our long-time partnership with the museum, there is no admission fee, but you are encouraged to make a donation to the RHaSQ if you can. Space will be limited so please register yourself and anyone else in your family who is participating soon. Please also notify us asap if you need to cancel your registration.
We will be looking for volunteers to serve as Trip Leaders (guides to ensure that those going on their own steam to the RHaSQ arrive safely) and as Drivers, bringing those who walk or wheel back to WUS at the end of the event.
It is not too early to register. Registration is required to participate and must be completed by 10/21. Register here: https://tinyurl.com/WUSRegRHSQ

We hope to see you on the journey…
