The Social Action and Outreach Committee would like to inform you of a new approach to “Share the Plate.” Beginning in November, one organization will receive funds from Share the Plate for three weeks in a month, instead of funding a different organization every week. Our goal is to develop a deeper connection with each organization, allowing members of the congregation to learn about each organization’s mission, goals, opportunities for volunteering, etc. Once a month, a member of a new organization will be invited to say a few words during the service and join us for coffee hour. The committee decided to fund a different organization the one or two remaining Sundays in the month to allow for emergencies and to fund additional organizations. This allows us the flexibility to respond to emergencies and to fund other services. We are pleased to announce that this coming Sunday, November 3, we will begin our new approach with Winchester A Better Chance, an organization familiar to many in the congregation. Please let members of the committee know if you have any questions or if there’s an organization you would like to recommend for funding in upcoming months. Committee members are: Joan Baldwin, John Healy, Brett Mulder, Margo Sudbury, Chris Weigand and Mayra Rodriguez-Howard. You may also send an email to Chris at weigandcd@gmail.com. Thank you! |
