Highlights for RE and Youth for 5/16/2024

I hope everyone enjoyed their sunny, beautiful Mother’s Day! Folks in RE

heard a First Reflection from Rev Heather, as I had the day off. Then the kids

enjoyed their regular RE classes and some fun activities and snacks.

This coming Sunday is Youth Sunday! We’ll gather in the sanctuary for First Reflection provided by the youth. Neighboring Faiths’ kids will stay in the service. All others will join our Nursery and Spirit Play classes. We’ll have a joint Spirit Play class and will hear a Cosmic Creation story. We’ll do a fun craft to go along with the story. Then we’ll all join the end of the worship service to form a “bridge” of flowers to give to the bridging seniors – many of whom are our teachers!

We had a wonderful regatta of canoes for our Aberjona cleanup spring service project! It was sunnier and warmer than expected. Everyone was in great spirits and we pulled gads and gads of trash out of the river. Some of our rarer finds included a “cozy coupe” toy car and a backpack. Winning in the variety category was close to 20 different kinds of balls, several shoes, and lots of clothing. Of course, there was plenty of single-use plastic floating along. It’s a reminder to all of us to remember our reusable water bottles and other reusable containers when we can!

Many thanks to Woody Wood and Phil Coonley, our experts in the field! They not only know all the ropes but also helped train some intrepid newbies so that we’ll always have the knowledge base to keep these canoe trips going strong!

WUSYG:

Hey friends! It’s here! Youth Sunday is this Sunday (May 19th). Youth in the service should arrive at 9:30 am. There will be a BBQ outside afterward and then prom setup until about 3 pm. JUSYG:

We hope you all had a nice weekend and spent some quality time with your moms or anyone else who mothers you. This Sunday is Youth Sunday, when our seniors give statements and the rest of the youth have other roles. JUSYGers participating in the service should arrive at 9:30. There will also be an outdoor potluck BBQ for all youth after the service until 1 pm. Please sign up to bring something here: https://www.perfectpotluck.com/BFIK0564

No regular meeting that night.
