RE and Youth Update for 4/11/24

This past Sunday, we finally started our chalice embroidery project, and it was a hit! We saw lots of kids and grownups working on their chalices, and we’re excited to see the many expressions of our UU faith come to life through this project! In the sanctuary, we talked about how these chalices and all of us are many threads that, individually, may seem small but, collectively, make a beautiful tapestry of love, respect, and support for one another, our WUS community, and the world.

This coming Sunday is the first Sunday of April Vacation, which is traditionally a low attendance day. We’re planning on doing some fun collective activities, and will be leaving for RE after First Reflection, as usual.

RE Families Canoe and River Cleanup Trip – Register Now!

Registration is now open for our second annual RE Canoe and River Cleanup trip on May 11th. This trip is our Spring service project for all RE classes. We had a grand time last year and are expanding the activities to include a picnic in the park afterward! We’ll meet at WUS at 8:30 am on Saturday, May 11. We’ll hear a brief talk about the restoration of the alewife (herring) to the Aberjona River at the fish ladder (across Main Street) and then, just a few steps away, embark on our adventure. We’ll stop at the dam between the Mystic Lakes for a brief snack and portage, and then continue on to the Condon Shell in Medford, where we’ll disembark and enjoy a picnic and some laid-back game time before heading back to WUS by 2 pm. Lifejackets, paddles, and canoes will be provided, and no prior canoeing experience is required. We hope you’ll join us on this fUUn adventure! Register here.

OWL:
There will be no OWL class this coming Sunday, April 14, due to April Vacation. Classes will resume on Sunday, April 21, from 5 to 6:30 pm in the OWL room.
