HAVE FAITH
Youth Sunday

HEADS UP!
THE ANNUAL MEETING IS NOW ON SUNDAY, JUNE 1ST,
following the morning worship service and a quick lunch.
The Standing Committee felt this change in dates would take some pressure off the week ahead, following as it does on the heels of Candidating Week, giving us more time to get the budget done, annual reports in, and the nominating committee work completed.
Please plan on joining us to acknowledge and celebrate the good work of the past year, including our heartfelt thanks to David and Stephanie. We will elect individuals for leadership roles next year and vote in the budget for fiscal year 08-09, decide on whether to fund a new HVAC system for Metcalf and any other resolutions that may be raised for congregational consideration.
So the deadline for Annual Reports to be sent to the church office (office@winchesteruu.org) is Monday, May 19 at noon

MORE SEXTON TRANSITIONS
The church finds itself in between church sextons again.  David Oland, who has been working with us since March and doing the best job on the landscaping, had a job offer in Information Technology he just couldn’t refuse.  So for the next week or so until another sexton is hired, some help may be needed: picking up trash, working on the grounds, vacuuming, taking the recycling to the dump.  Please contact Mary Ann in the church office (781-729-0949 / office@winchesteruu.org) if you can help.

HONORING JEANNE THOMASES MUSIC MINISTRY:
Most of you know that Jeanne is resigning as Children’s Choir Director, although she will fortunately remain a member of the church.  Starting on Sunday May 4th there will be a scrapbook available for everyone (adults and children) to write something, draw a picture, or paste in a card letting Jeanne know how much we appreciate her years of service.  All contributions should be placed in the box provided by June 1st.   The scrapbook will be given to Jeanne at the Children’s Sunday Service on June 8th.  If you wish to also contribute to a gift please send your contributions by June 1st to the office made out to WUS and indicate it is for Jeanne’s gift.  Please hold the date, Saturday, September 27th for a dinner honoring Jeanne.  Any questions or offers to help, please contact Sally Patton. Thank you.

SOLAR CHALLENGE:  WELL DONE WUS!
Forty WUS donors participated in the Challenge Grant put forward by the Social Outreach Committee - Fantastic!  We overshot our goal and earned the whole match.  Well done!  Thanks to all participants and to Social Outreach.  AND SPREAD THE WORD
While we have been working on the Winchester Solar Challenge, the Mass.Tech. Collaborative extended the deadline to June 30... the good news is, with 224 participants, the town has earned one set of solar panels.  We now have an opportunity to earn a second set of solar panels if we can drum up 76 more donors by the end of June.  So if you know anyone who is interested, please encourage them to participate, it's not too late.  Log on to: NewEnglandWind.org and click on Solar Challenge.
