150th Anniversary Celebrations

The Third Fifty Years, a brief history of the Society from its centennial in 1965 to its sesquicentennial in 2015, is available to download!  Included, as an addendum, is an abridged version of a pamphlet written fifty years ago to commemorate the Society’s centennial. Together, they cover the entire one-hundred fifty years since the church’s founding in 1865.
Founded on November 29th, 1865,
the Winchester Unitarian Society celebrates
its 150th Anniversary this year

Our weekend of celebration (November 20th - 22nd) included a Friday night concert featuring  John Kramer, Julia Cash, and Michael Curry playing Mozart, Bernstein, and Beethoven. On Saturday, we enjoyed an all church dinner, with some surprising glimpses into the Society's past.  Sunday worship featured our choir and an orchestra in the premier performance of John Kramer's cantata, A Dream of Hope, commissioned by the Society for the occasion.

As part of the worship service celebrating WUS's 150th anniversary on November 22nd, the community was challenged to honor this milestone by offering 150 Acts of Kindness to the wider community between then and May 1st, 2016.

We did it! As of May 1st, we had offered 184 Acts. Read about them here: Acts_of_Kindness_Campaign
